Ireland Ranked 2nd Most Relaxing Holiday Destination in Europe

Ireland has been ranked Europe’s second most relaxing holiday destination in a new survey.

Based on a points-based index system – evaluating the number of hiking trails, spas, yoga/pilates centres and national parks per 100,000 people – Ireland ranked just behind Iceland in top place, with a score of 8.13 out of 10. Iceland scored 9.26 out of 10.

Surprisingly, Spain ranked 11^th out of 15 countries, Denmark was 8^th and Greece and Switzerland were joint 9^th. The UK came in at number 13, with Finland just above it in 12^th. Norway was deemed 6^th most relaxing destination in Europe.

According to Slottracker, Ireland has the fourth highest number of spas per capita and three times the amount of national parks in the UK.
