València hosts Major International Tourism Events this Autumn

This autumn, Valencia will host several international events where sustainability within tourism management will play a key role. The city is looking forward to hosting major international events in the coming months. They will be focusing on tourism management and sustainability, as well as gastronomy and culture, in order to unlock the keys to the future of tourism already in practice in Valencia.

Hosts of gastronomic & cultural events

On 20th September, once again, the city will celebrate International Paella Day. On this important date, and for the fourth consecutive year, the best paella chefs in the world will travel to Valencia to compete for the title of best paella cook in the World Paella Day Cup. This is a special day in the Valencian calendar to celebrate their most international dishpaella! Alongside World Paella Day Cup, Valencia continues to host some of the most important events in the cultural and gastronomy sectors including The World’s 50 Best Restaurants gala in June and the 2022 Spain and Portugal Michelin gala last year.

Importance of heritage & sustainability in València

In addition to notable culinary events like the World Paella Day Cup, Valencia will also host some of the most important world events in the tourism sector. From 18th to 22nd September, heritage conservation from a sustainable perspective will be discussed at the ICOM-CC International Congress. The “W.T.A.C.H. Global Leaders’ Summit” will also focus on sustainability in terms of managing environmental impact. In addition, it will cover its coexistence with tourism and the conservation of resources. The conference, which will focus on cultural tourism and heritage protection, will bring together world leaders in Valencia on the 24th & 25th of September. Their aim is to try and find a common response to the issues of conservation and sustainability.

The GDS Form this October

From the 3rd to the 7th of October, two of the main international events on sustainability and tourism management will take place. These are the GDS Forum (Global Destinations Sustainability) and the autumn conference part of the City Destinations Alliance (Europe’s leading association of urban destinations). These conferences will present success stories, share knowledge and best practices. They will also analyse the outlook and evolution of tourism and focus on the latest trends and challenges facing the sector. Within the framework of both events, the GDS-Index awards ceremony will take place, during which the most innovative destinations in sustainability will be recognised.

The film industry is celebrated in València

For the third consecutive year, the city will again be the setting for the World Tourism Film Awards. The World Tourism Film Awards gala, organised by the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) and Visit València. It will be held in November to celebrate the creative excellence of audiovisual tourism productions.
