Paris Expecting €4bn Tourism Spend Boost from 2024 Olympics

Paris is set to benefit from a fresh €4bn tourism spend next summer through its hosting of the 2024 Olympic Games, which run across late July and early August.

The forecast has been made by international market research firm Euromonitor, which also expects a legacy from next year’s Games to be an ongoing annual increase in visitor numbers to the French capital.

According to Alexander Göransson, Senior Consultant at Euromonitor International: “The true benefits of a successful Paris 2024, watched by a massive global television audience, will be felt in subsequent years. Unlike during the Olympics, itself, this will benefit the overall tourism economy and not just hospitality, with Euromonitor International expecting a steady increase in inbound visitors to France and its capital city from 2025.”

The Paris Olympics are set to attract 15 million spectators, with Paris gaining an extra 3 million above its norms, during the duration. The event is also expected to attract a global television audience of around 4 billion people.
