Ryanair Introduces ‘Cash Passport’

Ryanair has introduced a ‘Ryanair Cash Passport’ in Ireland, a MasterCard prepaid card (managed by Access Prepaid Worldwide) that replaces other MasterCard Prepaid cards as the only way to avoid the airline’s €6 “administration fee” for Irish originating bookings from 1st March 2012 onwards.

The card costs €10 to buy, there is a €3 charge each time money is loaded on to the card online, there is the annual government stamp duty of €5, a €3 per month “inactivity fee” if the card is not used for six months, and a negative balance fee of €15.

The card was launched in the UK on 12th September 2011and in Italy on 1st November 2011, will be rolled out in other European countries in the coming months.
