London’s Heathrow Airport has reported a robust set of passenger numbers, showing more than 7 million people passed through the airport in June taking numbers back to near pre-Covid levels.
The airport said transatlantic travel continued to drive passenger growth – especially in the last three days of June when many Americans in London travelled home for the July 4, US Independence Day holidays.
Outgoing Heathrow chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: “I am very proud of the way that everyone at Heathrow has been working together to deliver excellent service at our busiest time of year. Summer at Heathrow is all about family holidays and we are ready to make sure yours gets off to a great start.”
Heathrow Airport, last month, announced Thomas Woldbye – the outgoing head of Copenhagen Airport – as its new chief executive. He will formally replace Mr Holland-Kaye later this year.
