World Paella Day 2024 Details Announced

The annual World Paella Day, a tribute to Valencia’s most universal dish, will be held on 20 September, this year, with a series of activities around the globe.

This is the day Valencia will invite the rest of the world to “put its grain of rice”, to make a paella the centrepiece of get-togethers with friends and family, just like the Valencians do, and to discover the true origins of the most Mediterranean recipe, which came into being in Valencia.

Paella is international, one of the most searched dishes on the Internet. And it is prepared and enjoyed all around the planet.

Two highlights of the World Paella Day programme are the special edition of the Paella Week that will take place in Valencia from 16 to 26 September, and the World Paella Day Cup, an international championship that will bring together chefs from all over the world to prepare this universal dish on the main day of the celebrations, Monday 20 September.

II World Paella Day Cup

This competition will choose the best paella in the world. 36 chefs from 20 different countries threw their hat into the ring for the current edition. Over 50,000 paella followers and foodies have already voted for their favourite chef and their recipe on social media, helping to select the 10 finalists for the World Paella Day Cup

In this event, ten chefs will compete in an international tournament inspired by the format of world sports championships to discover which of them makes the best paella. We will cheer for the Irish chef Rob Curley.

20th September, the 10 chefs selected will compete at Valencia’s La Marina. The semi-finals kick off at 10.00 am, and the grand finale will be held at noon.

Follow the competition via the official profiles at @WorldPaellaDay and cheer them on with the hashtag #WorldPaellaDay
