Ireland and England have both removed their pre-departure test for those arriving into the country.
Coming into Ireland
From midnight on Thursday, January 6, passengers travelling into Ireland will no longer need to produce a negative test. A EU Digital Covid Cert, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery from Covid-19 is still required.
However, unvaccinated travellers will still be required to show a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before arrival.
Coming into England
The pre-departure test for fully vaccinated passengers travelling into England has also been removed.
PCR tests and self-isolation on arrival has also been scrapped. A lateral flow test must be taken within 48 hours of arrival, and if positive, a PCR test must be booked.
Those who are not fully vaccinated must still self isolate on arrival.
These rules will come into effect from 4am on Friday, January 7.
Digital Covid Certs
New Digital Covid Certs will be issued later this week, to show that people have received their booster vaccine.
The updated certs will be issued automatically to booster vaccine recipients.
