Holland America Line’s ms Prinsendam arrived into Dublin Port last week, as part of its Celtic Worlds 21-day itinerary, and Daniela Scannella, Trade Sales Manager, hosted a group of travel agents on a familiarisation tour followed by an exquisite lunch.
At a presentation in the ship’s cinema, Daniela, who is just four months with the company, acknowledged that Holland America Line had not really been active in Ireland – but this is about to change as her territory covers the UK and Ireland. Agents will be delighted to have yet another fine cruising option to offer their clients in one of the few growth areas in travel currently.
The ship will return to Cobh later in the summer on its 28-day treasures of Europe tour. The vessel is designed to explore remote corners of the world, with its small size providing an intimate and elegant cruising experience for the 835 passengers.
The vessel entered service first as the Viking Sun; she then became the Seabourne Sun before moving to the Holland America Line. The Princendam offers a range of staterooms and opulent suites including a penthouse; most feature commanding ocean views and many have private verandas. There is a wide range of dining options and entertainment to suit all as well as a state-of-the-art spa. Although Holland America operates children’s clubs on its other vessels this is not the case on this ship; however, children are allowed – but not encouraged.
Holland America Line is based in Seattle, having started out in Rotterdam in 1873 as the Netherlands America Steamship Company and began running vacation cruises in 1895. The company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Carnival Cruise Lines in 1989 and currently has a fleet of 15 ships in six classes, with the Nieuw Amsterdam being the latest addition in 2010.
On each ship in the Pinnacle Grill all guests can enjoy a truly memorable dining experience: in an exclusive agreement, Holland America Line has partnered with the illustrious Le Cirque restaurant. On every voyage, the Pinnacle Grill is transformed for at least one night into a Le Cirque-like atmosphere. On these special evenings, menu offerings, wine selections, table decorations and the restaurant setting are tailored to create an authentic Le Cirque dining experience that is sure to impress both the eyes and palates of Holland America Line guests.
