Taoiseach Announces Plans to Introduce New ‘Sail and Rail’ Ticket for Young People Travelling to France

Taoiseach Micheàl Martin had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris last week where they discussed Celtic Interconnector.

After their meeting, Mr Martin discussed the prospect of a ‘sail and rail’ ticket geared towards young people travelling between Ireland and France.

“So literally, Dublin to Paris with one ticket or Cork to Paris with one ticket,” he said, mentioning that it would be competitively priced.

Martin said the ‘sail and rail’ option is a sustainable way of travel for people into the future, and it dovetails with Ireland and France’s climate agenda.

“Our officials have been working on that and we’re setting a very ambitious target of next summer,” said the Taoiseach.
