The attendance at the Sunway 50th Anniversary thank you lunch was testament to the high esteem in which this Irish-owned tour operator is held by all its suppliers. The venue was the Mulberry Garden Restaurant in Donnybrook, created by the late great Ernie Evans, and still one of the best.
Sunway is a 100% Irish owned family business which was founded in 1966 by Roy Beatty. The company then passed to Roy’s daughter Madeline Kilbride in 1974 and to his granddaughter, Tanya Airey in 1998.Tanya’s father Jim Furlong has remained Chairman since 1974. Tanya’s husband Philip Airey is a Director of the company and her cousin Brian McGovern is Financial Director.
Jim Furlong Chairman of Sunway was one of the gracious hosts at Sunway’s 50th Birthday celebration at Mulberry Garden in Dublin. With Tanya and Philip Airey to the fore and ably assisted by Mary Denton, Anita Kelly, Deirdre Sweeny, Marie Claire Porter, Brian McGovern and Jeanette Taylor all guests were made to feel most welcome.
The great and the good of the travel trade attended the event with partners from Europe and the World including Morocco, Turkey, Spain and Lapland helping to celebrate 50 years of successful trading.
Tanya Airey CX of Sunway thanked all partners and trade for their support over the years and this was very evident by the number of those who travelled to join the Sunway team for their celebrations.
