P&O Cruises and Cunard are the latest cruise companies to relax Covid rules around passengers.
The sister companies will ease travel rules from September 6.
The new rules will do away with the requirement for testing for fully-vaccinated passengers, even though testing is still recommended for those sailing on shorter cruises.
However, vaccinated passengers will still require a negative Covid test – either an antigen test of PCR – when travelling on longer sailings of 16 nights or longer.
Both lines still require all adult passengers to be fully vaccinated ahead of boarding.
“These updated protocols reflect the current environment across the world,” said Sture Myrmell, Carnival UK President.
P&O – which has vaccinated all crew members and tests them regularly – had tested eased Covid requirements on its Iona ship back in June, with the response being positive and the test passing without fail.
The move by P&O and Cunard follow recent similar relaxations by the likes of Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and MSC.
