Travel agents were shocked when they opened the post to discover a letter from TUI advising them that their commission levels would be reduced from 20th July 2015. This letter referred to ‘Southern Ireland’ agents who were using B numbers for UK departures. However this was not very clear in the letter.
Antoinette Young, Distribution Manager, Falcon Holidays and Thomson, has since emailed the Irish trade confirming: “This applies to UK departures using your ABTA number and not to Southern Ireland departures. In summary, the letter does state standard terms and commission levels at 7%, which is applicable to all UK & I agents using your ‘B’ number for UK departures. However, agents who have separate commercial arrangements in place (i.e. key accounts or consortia etc.) would have a contract in place which would override these terms.”
