With more than 2,200 unique user reviews, over 750 expert reviews from renown safari veterans and an unmatched collection of both editorial and visual information, SafariBookings.com instantly became one of the world’s largest African Safari resources the moment it went public this week.
SafariBookings is the latest startup of Ximon Media, led by Dutch serial-entrepreneur Wouter Vergeer. The company has spent the past two years searching the web for people who have been on safari and inviting them to write a review. As a result, the website features more than 2,200 user reviews, written by people from over 50 nationalities. Additionally, most of the reputable guidebook authors – working for Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Frommer’s, Bradt and Footprint – teamed up in the SafariBookings Expert Panel and wrote another 750 expert reviews.
Experts and Photographers
Besides the reviews, SafariBookings features a wealth of expert information on the eight major safari countries and 140 parks and has over 3,500 photos from world-famous wildlife photographers Michael Poliza, Ariadne van Zandbergen and Heinrich van den Berg.
A large contingent of specialised safari operators in African and Western countries have already joined, offering their tours on SafariBookings. The result is an easy-to-compare mash-up of safari tours that makes the process of finding the right safari easier and less time consuming.
The expectations are that by the end of 2013 over 60% of all major safari operators will be represented on SafariBookings. The combination of user and expert reviews, detailed information and safari tours, makes SafariBookings one of the largest online safari resources available.
