NCL welcomed trade and media onboard their Breakaway Class ship, Norweigan Getaway. The group was hosted by the team from NCL: Aaron Fletcher, Business Development Manager for Ireland, Kirsty Webb, Senior Business Development Manager and Gary Anslow Regional Vice President and Head of UK & Ireland.
Aaron Fletcher explained, “The three things that set us apart from everyone else are our dining, our entertainment and our value for money.”
Across the Atlantic to Cobh and Beyond
Norwegian Getaway left New York on the 29th of April, she is currently on a transatlantic sailing back to Europe to begin her European season.
From Cobh in Cork, she sailed to Dun Laoghaire and will continue to Belfast followed by Amsterdam and La Harve before finishing in Southampton. Her summer will start with a visit to Barcelona and Rome before finishing in Athens where she will offer guests 7-night sailings to the Greek Isles and Turkey.
Norwegian Getaway
Built in 2014, Norwegian Getaway was refurbished in 2020. She has a 3,903-guest capacity with a crew of 1,646. The ship offers 20+ dining options, five water slides and three levels of action-packed activities in the sports complex.
There are plenty of areas to chill out and relax on the top deck too.
The Waterfront
The Waterfront is NCL’s open-air promenade designed to connect guests with the ocean with eateries and lounges to enjoy along the way.
On Deck 8, this is home to the Sunset Bar and Sugarcane Mojito Bar. Try The Bake Shop or Dolce Gelato for bites during the day. Opt for one of the many speciality dining choices located here, including Cagney’s Steakhouse, La Cucina Italian Restaurant, Moderno Churrascaria for authentic Brazilian churrascaria and seafood restaurant, Ocean Blue.
Beside Ocean Blue is The Raw Bar (speciality dining) which offers a menu of oysters, shellfish, seafood and signature wines.
More Speciality Dining
Whether in the mood for shrimp or steak, try the Japanese restaurant, Teppanyaki (speciality dining).
There is also Wasabi and Le Bistro French restaurant and Illusionarium as part of the speciality dining options.
American Diner (speciality dining), a 1950s-style diner with comfort foods from loaded nachos, pulled pork sliders to a cheeseburger with a blend of chuck, brisket and short rib plus a milkshake on the side.
Shanghai’s Noodle Bar with Asian courses such as Peking-style chicken to vegetable dumplings with spicy plum sauce.
Try O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill, an Irish pub with draft beer and comfort foods like fish n’ chips. There are darts or pool to while away the hours although with the extensive entertainment offering, there is plenty from which to choose.
Main Dining
On Getaway, you’ve got all sorts of styles of food included in the fare. There are three main dining rooms with hand-picked menus, a buffet where you can help yourself, and plenty of casual spots like cafés and grills. They’ve got everything from freshly baked bread and desserts to chefs’ specials, so whether you’re feeling fancy or if you just want something easy, you are covered.
The Main Dining has two restaurants facing each other, Savour and Taste which offers stylish, elegant and intimate dining experiences. The Tropicana Room is also part of Main Dining, a larger and equally beautiful setting to Savour and Taste.
Bars & Lounges
In the evening, you would find me toe-tapping to the rock hits at the new Syd Norman’s Pour House where live music and an interactive cast entertain all night long.
There is an abundance of bars and lounges to choose from around the ship including the Atrium Bar, Bar 21, Mixx, Prime Meridian, Skyy Vodka Ice Bar and Spice H20.
Dance till the wee hours of the morning in Bliss Ultra Lounge nightclub and lounge in the sunshine in the Vibe Beach Club, an adults-only getaway on top of the ship with exclusive private cabanas, chilled towels and a special food and drinks menu
Equally inviting was Headliners Comedy Club which offers 12 shows a week or test your dance moves with games in the main atrium.
Entertainment on offer includes the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet showcasing the twist of fate that brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together.
The Haven
The Haven features NCL’s most luxurious, well-appointed suites as well as 24-hour butler service, concierge service and private sundeck with an exclusive pool area for guests of The Haven only.
Balcony and Inside Cabins
The most popular cabins for the Irish market are the balcony and inside cabin types which are well-appointed and offer bathrooms larger than most of NCL’s competitors.
Starlink High-Speed Internet
Starlink provides fast Internet service at sea and is now available on Norwegian Getaway delivering speedy and reliable internet on board.
