Mallorca has placed a 3 per day limit on the number of cruise ships that will be allowed to dock in the island’s capital Palma over the course of this year and next.
The island is promoting a quality-over-quantity approach to its tourism product.
Already a number of leading cruise companies – MSC, Costa, and Crystal Cruises included – have signed up to the pact.
Mallorca’s Minister of Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela said: “The foundations of an even more responsible tourism model have been laid and one that continues to generate wealth, addressing the specific needs of Palma.”
