Emirates Reveals Australia as Top Destination for its Irish Passengers in 2023; Resumes Adelaide Route

Emirates has revealed that Australia was the top destination for Irish passengers in 2023, mainly driven by families going to visit their loved ones abroad.

The Dubai airline has also predicted that Australia will be one of the top destinations for Irish passengers in 2024.

Meanwhile, Emirates has announced the final step in the restoration of its Australia route capacity, by announcing its return to Adelaide – a daily service, from Dubai, to the south Australian city beginning on October 28. It follows recent upgrades to its Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane services.

Emirates first launched its Adelaide services in 2012 and carried more than 165,000 passengers between Dubai and Adelaide in 2019.

Barry Brown, Divisional Vice President Australasia at Emirates, said: “The return of Emirates to Adelaide has been highly anticipated by passengers and industry for some time.”

The airline has recently announced doubling its Premium Economy offering on flights to Melbourne which started on February 1, adding to the two daily four-class A380 services to Sydney.

From October 1, Emirates will up gauge its second service between Dubai and Brisbane to an A380, creating an all A380 operation from Brisbane. From December 1, Emirates will reinstate its second Perth service on a Boeing 777-300ER, joining the existing A380 service.
