British Airways A380 to be Part of Flightfest

British Airways has confirmed that it will be part of Dublin’s Flightfest event on 15th September 2013. British Airways’ new Airbus A380 will join other aircraft in the two-hour fly-past of Dublin city centre.

Garry Copeland, British Airways’ Managing Director – Joint Operations, said: “We jumped at the chance to take part in this amazing and unique event. We have a long history in Ireland and it’s a really important market for us, so we hope this will be a real spectacle.

“The A380 is the most recent addition to our fleet. It’s known as the superjumbo and has 469 seats, so it will be quite a spectacle in the air over Dublin. Flightfest gives us a great opportunity to showcase it to our Irish customers.”

British Airways currently has one A380 that is now in an extensive entry into service programme before beginning flights to Los Angeles on 24th September and Hong Kong on 22nd October.

British Airways has ordered 12 A380s, 24 B787s and six additional B777-300ERs. Over the next 12 months it will take delivery of a new aircraft at the rate of one a fortnight as part of a £5 billion investment programme to make life more comfortable for customers in the air and on the ground.
