Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Replaces Dubai International as World’s Busiest Airport

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has taken over from Dubai International Airport as the world’s busiest.

Atlanta tops the latest monthly rankings, conducted by airport and aviation insights agency OAG.

Dubai, Tokyo (Haneda) and London Heathrow round out the top five.

In European terms, OAG’s rankings for March show Heathrow to be the busiest, followed by Istanbul, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam Schiphol and Frankfurt.

The ranking are determined on the number of seats booked/filled on planes departing/arriving at airports on a daily basis.

In Europe, the main movements in March have been Rome Fiumicino and Munich International Airport seeing the biggest increases in seats, with each seeing a 9% increase so far.

London’s Gatwick Airport has also made the top 10 busiest European airports for the first time this year.
