The Philippines is an archipelago of 7,170 islands that have been described as a glittering necklace of emeralds in the Pacific blessed with tropical weather all year round. The largest islands of Luzon, Visayas and Mindano separate the population into more than 150 languages. The national language is Filipino but English is widely spoken.
The main gateway to the country is Manila, the capital, probably best described as a city within cities, a bustling metropolis with hotels to suit all budgets, upscale shopping centres and a vast array of entertainment venues.
The people are really fun lovers, with centres for arts and crafts, museums, historical landmarks and much more.
The ‘must visit’ place in Manila is the Intramuros, which is the heart of the independence and culture of the nation.
