Just under 1.6 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in December, an increase of 11% on the same period last year, while over 21.7 million passengers travelled through the airport in 2014, an 8% increase over the previous year.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe grew by 13% with almost 708,000 passengers travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded an increase of 7% in passenger volumes, with almost 650,000 passengers travelling in December.
Transatlantic traffic to North America grew by 7% with 135,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in December. Other international passenger traffic, which includes flights to the Middle East and Africa, increased by over 39%, with almost 67,000 passengers travelling this route sector in December.
Passenger numbers on domestic routes grew by 31% with almost 6,500 passengers taking domestic flights last month.
