60% of Parents Willing to Take Kids Out of School to Save on Holiday Costs, Survey Shows

As much as 60% of parents are willing to take their children out of school during term time in order to save on holiday prices, new research from online travel agent Click&Go shows.

The agency said it has seen a significant growth of 20% in passenger numbers booked to travel in May or June this year compared to last year.

Families can save up to €1,200 on average travelling in May versus July. Other reasons given for opting to travel at off-peak times include milder weather, less busy for families with young kids and children get to expand their education by learning about new destinations, cultures and languages.

Portugal and Spain are the clear winners for top family sun destinations in May and June. The Algarve, Lanzarote and Costa del Sol are the top three performing family sun destinations at Click&Go.
