Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel became a winter wonderland at the weekend when its ballroom was filled with hundreds of real Christmas trees.
On arrival, each family was given a Christmas tree tag and were invited to go into the ballroom and pick their own, real full-size tree to bring home.
Guests enjoyed a wonderfully festive afternoon where they were treated to champagne, mulled wine, festive nibbles, and hot chocolate. Santa, himself, made an appearance much to the delight of the crowd who were also entertained by The Newbridge Gospel Choir and international soprano, Celine Byrne who sang a stunning rendition of ‘Oh Holy Night’.
Broadcaster, Lorraine Keane officially turned on the lights on the Newbridge Silverware decorated Christmas tree which has been adorned with stunning silver and blue decorations.
Michael Davern, General Manager of Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel said: “We were very happy to bring back ‘The Christmas Tree Event’ and were thrilled to see our many guests and friends enjoy the day. Fresh from her recent lead in the opera of ‘Le Boheme’ at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre, Celine Byrne was kind enough to not only join in our festivities but surprised us all with her beautiful performance. We also really like our Newbridge Silverware tree in the lobby and are very happy to collaborate with a great Irish brand which is in line with Anantara’s ethos of working with indigenous Irish and local suppliers.”
He added: “This is really the start of Christmas for us, and we are looking forward to hosting some fabulous parties and events over the festive season. For the first time in the history of the property we will also be open for residents right through the Christmas period and have created some fantastic residential packages for guests to enjoy. Our hotel restaurant, Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins and the Marker Bar & Lounge are both open throughout Christmas and are ideal venues for a festive celebration with friends and family”.
Well known faces in attendance at the event included Maia Dunphy, Anna Daly, Glenda Gilson and Doireann Garrihy who was there with her new fiancé, Mark Mehigan.
