Shane Cullen interviewed Matthias Werner to discover what the Irish have missed in Costa del Sol over the last two years.
Matthias explained how Costa del Sol has a new modern hotel base with the renovation of a number of hotels that dated back to the 70s and 80s. Malaga and Marbella have an even stronger offering of 4- and 5-star hotels to meet the rising demand for high-end luxury. Interestingly, this region has the highest concentration of five-star hotels in Spain.
There is more to this region than 5-stars and sunshine though they have both in abundance. Matthias recommended Costa del Sol and Malaga in the off-season. An Irish summer is a Costa del Sol winter with temperatures in the late teens/early twenties and no biting Irish wind. Equally, spring and autumn are ideal for Irish tourists.
