Kathy Cashe, Sunway’s Product Manager for Menorca, visited the popular destination last summer and reports that “this idyllic island in the sun literally took my breath away and I departed Menorca repeating the same mantra…I will be back!”
Having spent five wonderful days on a fact-finding mission to Menorca last July, I was blown away by the simple beauty of this island and on occasion I had to remind myself that I was not actually driving around the west of Ireland – because the similarity of the scenery was striking. Lush green fields full of livestock surrounded by cobblestone-built walls bordering long winding country roads, beautiful sea views…just like home, albeit in the glorious sunshine! The tranquil and laid back atmosphere in Menorca is intoxicating and I found myself quickly relaxing into the ‘zen’ of the surroundings.
Accompanied by Sarah, Sunway’s cheerful, friendly and most knowledgeable ground handling agent, we visited the main tourist resorts of Cala’n Bosh, Sa Caleta, Cala’n Forcat/Cala’n Blanes and Cala Blanca. Viewing the various hotels and apartments, where I was welcomed with such generous hospitality as all were delighted to have the Irish back on Menorcan soil, I was most impressed by the general high standard and friendliness of each property. It was not hard to decide what accommodation to feature on Sunway’s forthcoming programme to Menorca as I was literally spoilt for choice.
My favourite part of my days spent in Menorca was sampling the wonderful Mediterranean cuisine and I was not disappointed as there is an abundance of traditional and not so traditional chic restaurants to choose from – a food lover’s haven!
The quaint fishing villages, the small sandy beach coves surrounded by impressive cliffs, the spectacular sea views, the cuisine, and the friendliness of the local people literally took my breath away and I departed Menorca repeating the same mantra…I will be back!
