Laos is hoping to attract more than four million international visitors in 2015. In 2013 the landlocked nation attracted 3.78 million international visitors.
In a country with vast undisturbed ecosystems, Laos continues to promote its 20 National Protected Areas, which include Phiu Khao Khouay close to Vientiane and the Nam Nern Night safari in Et-Phou Louey National Park. There is also an objective to have the Plain of Jars listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This year will see the building of a new international airport in the Tonpheung district of Bokeo province, while two new regional airports are also scheduled to open.
