Eighty per cent of Air France flights will continue to operate today, similar to yesterday, but passengers on many long-haul routes face a second day of disruption as a result of the flight attendants’ strike. Services from Paris CDG to Abu Dhabi, New York JFK, Montreal, Los Angeles, Washington, Atlanta, Tokyo-Narita, Pointe Noire, Douala and Saint Marteen are cancelled today.
In a statement, the airline said: “Air France again apologises to its customers and expresses its appreciation to team members who have made every effort to provide scheduled service to passengers. The company is fully mobilised to try to minimise the inconvenience to customers and to provide up-to-date information as quickly as possible.
“The company has done everything possible to best organise its flight schedule although significant uncertainty remains regarding the level of participation in the strike by cabin crews, who are not required to notify the company of their intentions. Delays and some same-day cancellations of flights are expected.
“The company regrets that its customers are being held hostage by a five-day strike for which there is no reason. The management of Air France negotiated night and day for 10 days and responded favourably to 90% of the demands of the flight attendants’ unions. In response, the leading union decided to withdraw its strike notice.
“Flight safety is Air France’s number one priority. The company fully respects and abides by all national and international safety regulations.”
