London City Airport had the most flights on time of all the UK’s airports during the last quarter of 2013 – the seventh consecutive period that the airport has held the top spot.
Data published by the Civil Aviation Authority shows that 87% of all flights at LCY were on time, and the airport also recorded the shortest average delay of any airport at just eight minutes – a record it has held since the beginning of 2012. From October to December 2013, overall 80% of flights at the 10 UK airports monitored were on time and the average delay was 12 minutes.
Darren Grover, Chief Operating Officer, said: “The hard work of everyone on the ground at LCY continues to set us above all the other UK airports and provide our passengers with the most punctual service in the country bar none. We have run the most flights on time in the country for nearly two years straight – and against a backdrop of the busiest year ever at LCY with 3.4 million passengers travelling through. It’s a fantastic achievement and we will work hard to maintain our number one position.”
A total of 3,380,000 passengers travelled through London City Airport in 2013.
