Air Cargo Volumes Expected to Grow 4.5% in 2024

The Middle East region is set to drive air cargo growth this year, according to aviation industry group the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

On average, global air cargo demand and movement should grow by around 4.5% this year, according to latest IATA forecasts.

The Middle East is expected to record the biggest rise, with a 12.3% increase on last year; while Africa will see 1.5% growth.

Rachel Yuting Fan, IATA Sustainability and Economics chief, said: “Cargo revenue will also be about 11% above 2019 and comprise 12% of total industry revenue. In other words, 2024 will see sustained revenue growth and the sector outperform pre-pandemic levels.”

“Yields will likely decline in 2024, but they will still be above their 2019 levels,” she said.
