Global travel industry representative group, The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced the addition of Troy Haas to its distinguished membership, which includes many of the industry’s top global leaders and decision-makers.
Mr Haas is chief executive of Brownell, which is the oldest and longest established travel agency in North America.
Recognised by Conde Nast Traveler as one of the top three travel agencies in the US, Brownell achieved $200m in sales in 2023 and ranked 35th on Travel Weekly’s Power List in 2022.
Brownell was founded in 1887 and has been rooted in innovation since its inception. It started as a bold venture with 10 intrepid travellers aboard the SS Devonia to Ireland, and has grown into one of the most prestigious travel agencies in the world.
Under the leadership of Mr Haas, who joined Brownell in 1993 and rose to become Chairman & CEO, the agency and its advisors have shattered milestones and redefined luxury travel for hundreds of thousands of travellers.
WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson said: “Troy carries forward the pioneering spirit that began with Walter Brownell nearly 140 years ago. His experience and leadership will be invaluable to WTTC as we continue shaping the future of Travel & Tourism.”
Troy Haas said: “Joining WTTC is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with leaders who share my vision for a thriving and sustainable future for Travel & Tourism. Together, we can inspire travellers and elevate the industry to new heights.”
