Visit Tripadvisor and search ‘London’ under hotels and the top three 5-star hotels recommended are Hotel 41 in Belgravia, The Milestone Hotel in Kensington, and the Egerton House Hotel in Knightsbridge. In seventh and eleventh places are the 4-star hotels The Montague on The Gardens in Bloomsbury and The Chesterfield in Mayfair, respectively. These five hotels have more than one thing in common, the first being that they are all part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection.
The second is that, along with all the other hotels in the Red Carnation portfolio, they have had all their rooms renovated within the past 18 months. They have been refurbished immaculately, and in keeping with their respective locations, by Bea Tollman, President and Founder of Red Carnation, which is part of The Travel Corporation, along with Insight Vacations, Uniworld and Contiki Holidays, among more than 20 other award-winning brands.
Hence it was One Stop Touring Shop’s premises in Merrion Square that was the venue for a presentation on the Red Carnation hotels by Terry Holmes, Executive Director; Paul Hemmings, Vice President of Sales; and Caroline Calvert, PR Director – UK.
In addition to seven hotels in London, the portfolio includes two in Dorset, England, one in Geneva, Switzerland, three in South Africa, one in Palm Beach, Florida, and the first ever 5-star hotel in Guernsey, the Old Government House Hotel and Spa (www.redcarnation.com).
