Winning Travel Counsellors Ireland Team Makes the Most of Mexico!

A team of Irish Travel Counsellors has recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Mexico after winning the company’s recent sales incentive challenge. Travel Counsellors Ireland launched a competition last year that saw its agents divided into teams, competing against each other in various challenges to secure the most bookings.

The lucky team of five agents from the Republic of Ireland – Fidelma Brady, Martina Hayden, Claudia Lane, Jennifer O’Brien and Mandy Walsh, accompanied by Bernie Whelan from Head Office – jetted off for five days to experience an array of accommodation and attractions in the diverse destination of Cancun.

The trip was hosted in partnership with AM Resorts and Air France/KLM/Delta (represented by Sarah Spooner and Therese Murphy) and included excursions such as exploring the magical ‘Mayan Ruins’ in Tulum and staying at a variety of hotels from boutique adult-only hideaways to family-focused resorts.

Dublin-based Jennifer O’Brien commented: “It was a fantastic trip and gave me the unique opportunity to explore the area and sample the array of accommodation and attractions on offer, which I have since shared with my customers and featured on my webpage.

“These educational trips are incredible for your confidence in selling destinations – in fact, since the trip I have booked a honeymoon and have more potential bookings for Mexico. The competition was a great idea and really kept all of us motivated, and the trip was a great reward for our hard work.”

Global Team Challenges

The competition is just one of a number of fun incentives that Travel Counsellors has organised for its agents in order to keep them motivated and focused on driving their business forward, including global team challenges with the company’s 1,200 Travel Counsellors worldwide.

Travel Counsellors are able to communicate with one another via an internal webcam and instant messaging system, as well as having access to global message boards where they can ask advice, feedback and have general chat with fellow agents.

Alongside this the company’s agents can also showcase their experiences via their personal webpages, which allow them to post travel journals and pictures from their trips alongside other useful information such as customer testimonials and personal profiles.

First-hand Experience

Bernie Whelan, who is part of the head office support team in Ireland and who also attended the trip, commented: “The competition was a great success and proved a fantastic way to encourage our Travel Counsellors to get those all important sales while having fun and creating a strong sense of friendship.

“As a company we are firm believers in the fact that you can’t beat first-hand experience of a destination and we encourage all our Travel Counsellors to go on educationals so that they can give the best possible service to their clients.”
