Obviously British Airways is putting a lot of effort into its new Dublin to London City Airport route, as a very confidant Willie Walsh was in Dublin for the launch to the trade. The event was compered by the TV personality, Eamon Holmes.
Willie Walsh said that the new route would be operated by “the nicest aircraft you will ever fly in”, the Brazilian-built Embraer Regional jet. He also announced that, with effect from 26th October, all the British Airways flights from Dublin to London Heathrow would operate to Terminal 5, making quick connections to BA’s long-haul network.
British Airways is commencing the new London City route on Sunday 26th October with five flights per day.
Incumbent carrier CityJet, and regional airline Flybe, will also operate this route, meaning that there will be 18 flights per day between the three airlines. This is a large capacity increase for this route and is bound to lead to increased competition.
