WestJet’s inaugural flight from St John’s, Newfoundland, flew into Dublin Airport this morning with full capacity – including some 30 WestJet frequent flyers who had been invited to enjoy a five-day trip to Ireland – and enjoyed a great welcome party hosted by the Dublin Airport Authority.
Gregg Saretsky, President and Chief Executive of WestJet, announced that load factors were now at 90% – and rising – and said: “We might have to make the service year-round quickly!
Welcoming the arrivals, DAA Chief Executive Kevin Toland revealed that the St John’s – Dublin route has been WetJet’s most successful route launch in its history.
Susan Sullivan, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development for Newfoundland and Labrador, said: “WestJet understands what service is all about and is to be congratulated for starting this service. Our province and Ireland have more than 300 years of shared history – Ireland is the right place for us to do business and also to strengthen our cultural and historical ties.”
