Wendy Wu Tours Appoints New Managing Director for UK and Ireland

Wendy Wu Tours has appointed Mark Bloxham as its new Managing Director UK & Ireland. Mark, who was previously with James Villa Holidays and Teletext, will take over the role on 21st August 2017 and will succeed Laurence Hicks, who is leaving the company.

Mark will oversee the Asia specialist’s digital transformation and will report to global chief executive Joe Karbo and company founder and chairwoman Wendy Wu. Joe Karbo said: “Wendy Wu Tours is delighted to have appointed someone with Mark’s record of success. The company is experiencing a strong trajectory of growth, and Mark’s experience in growing revenue’s in the digital space will ensure we are well poised to achieve our objectives.”

Mark has more than 17 years’ experience in digital marketing and online transformation, most recently consulting as UK marketing officer with venture capital-backed startup Gett.

Previously he was managing director for James Villa Holidays where he had overall responsibility for moving the traditional upmarket villa holiday business into the digital arena. Before that, he served as marketing director for the DMGT brand Teletext, where he headed up the company’s conversion to become a digitally driven profitable business. He has also had roles at Kaplan UK, Adecco and Thomas Cook.
