Wendy Wu Considering Country Manager Role for Ireland; Targeting Massive Sales Growth Here

Wendy Wu Tours is, reportedly, targeting huge sales growth in Ireland and is likely to create a dedicated country manager role as it builds an on-the-ground presence here.

In a recent interview, Wendy Wu’s head of trade sales Gary King was quoted as saying the company has seen significant progress in Northern Ireland since Kelly Hutchinson came on board as business development manager.

Wendy Wu Tours announced a major ramping up of its operations in Ireland, in December, by launching fully-inclusive flight packages on all specialist tours for the first time here and appointing former Barrhead Travel store manager Kelly Hutchinson as business development manager for the island of Ireland.

In the interview, Mr King said Ireland has become a huge growth market for Wendy Wu Tours, with around 3.5% of its UK and Ireland business coming from here. He said the company is targeting 10% of that business coming from the Republic, alone, within the next two years.

Currently, the Republic is growing at a slower pace than Northern Ireland for Wendy Wu, but Mr King said the company is already comfortably beating its initial sales targets here and expects sales to rise by four or five times, in the Republic, by 2027.
