Vietnam has won big at the latest regional edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA), covering Asia and Oceania.
The country was named Asia’s leading destination, the continent’s leading heritage destination and leading nature destination, at the gala awards in Manila, Philippines, this week.
Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi, meanwhile, was voted the region’s leading city and leading city break destination.
Ho Chi Minh city was also voted Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination and Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination.
This is the sixth time in the past seven years that Vietnam has been recognised as Asia’s leading destination. Vietnam beat off many strong contenders to win, including China, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, to retain the prestigious title this year.
Meanwhile, Sydney was crowned top Oceania city and two of its hotels – W Sydney and The Langham Sydney – won top gongs for the region.
