London-based US tourism specialist Travel and Tourism Marketing (TTM) has appointed industry veteran Karl Cushing as PR Account Manager.

In his new role, Mr Cushing will be working across the PR accounts of the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development; Explore Louisiana; New Orleans & Company; and Maverick Helicopters.

He joins TTM having recently worked within the representation sector, on trade accounts for three North American tourism boards in the UK and Ireland.
With more than 20 years of travel industry experience behind him, spanning a spread of PR, trade representation and editorial roles, including stints as Features Editor on Travel Weekly and Business Editor on The Caterer, Mr Cushing brings with him a wealth of knowledge, contacts and ideas, coupled with a gift for storytelling and a keen insight into the ever-evolving travel PR and media landscape.
Commenting on his appointment, Karl Cushing said: “Having had connections with the TTM team stretching back to my earliest days in travel journalism, around 20 years ago, I’m super excited to be taking on this new role.
“Suffice to say, I’m thrilled to be working on such stellar accounts, so rich with stories, from food and festivals to sports, music and culture, not to mention breathtaking landscapes, epic road trips and The Civil Rights Trail. Indeed, I can’t wait to start trumpeting some of this year’s milestone stories, including the return of Amtrak’s New Orleans to Mobile line, and new routes such as Aer Lingus’ Dublin-Nashville service – not to mention the latest developments with Maverick’s flightseeing services out of Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Hawaii.”
Kirsty Dillury, co-owner of TTM Ltd, said: “We are delighted to welcome Karl to the team at such an exciting time for his clients, from Louisiana celebrating the Year of Food this year to Tennessee’s celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the birth of Elvis and the 100th anniversary of the Grand Old Opry. And with some high-profile Louisiana and Tennessee trade and media missions planned for the UK and Ireland this year, and a whole host of new products to shout about, he certainly won’t struggle for conversation with our key media partners!
“Given Karl’s passion, knowledge and expertise, I’m confident he will continue to achieve a strong showing for his clients in the UK and Ireland media, building on the excellent work of the TTM team.”
