United to Cancel Belfast – Newark Service

United Airlines will cease operating its Belfast International Airport to New York (Newark) service from 9th January 2017 due to its “poor financial performance”, following a ruling by the European Commission that the £9 million financial support package put together earlier this year by the Northern Ireland Executive contravenes state-aid rules.

A statement issued by United said: “We will contact customers with bookings for flights beyond those dates to provide refunds and re-accommodate where possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
