Ukraine has commenced efforts to resume its international tourism industry by starting official negotiations with aviation regulators around the world to resume air links with the country.
It has been reported that Oleksandr Kubrakov – Ukraine’s Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure – confirmed, in an interview with Ukrainian news agency RBC, that the country plans to resume allowing commercial flights enter its airspace and operate in and out of the country, despite the country still defending itself against Russia which invaded in February 2022.
It is understood that the Ukraine Government would look to reopen Kyiv and Odesa airports first.
Ukraine International Airlines – the country’s flag carrier – has been grounded since the Russian invasion more than 2 years ago.
Last summer, Ryanair announced a $3bn investment in post-war Ukraine links, saying it will leads the tourism recovery with routes to and from Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa and more than 20 EU capital cities within 8 weeks of Ukraine air space reopening.
