Turkish Airlines is, reportedly, in talks over making the biggest ever aircraft purchase order the aviation world has ever seen.
The airline is already the largest in the world, in terms of routes and connections, and its chairman Ahmet Bolat told Reuters that it will announce an order during the upcoming AGM of aviation industry group the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Despite not giving firm numbers or a breakdown by order or option, Reuters suggested the order would be in the region of 600 planes, comprising 400 narrow-body jets and 200 wide-body vessels.
Such an order would be the biggest the aviation world has ever seen. Currently, Air India holds the record for the biggest order, with 470 jets.
It is also unclear who Turkish Airlines is in talks with, although the airline has previously indicated it was talking with Boeing in the past.
