Turkish Airlines has today reached its goal of operating a fleet of 200 aircraft. This helps Turkish Airlines, Europe’s youngest and most modern fleet, get a step closer to its goal of having the largest global network of an airline. Turkish is currently the world’s fifth largest airline.
Speaking at Atatürk Airport today, Tuesday 13th November, Turkish Airlines’ Chairman Hamdi Topcu said: “As a company, we continue to achieve our goals one at a time. When we began our expansion in 2003, there were only 54 aircrafts in the fleet and we flew to 103 destinations. That number is now 205 cities in 90 countries.”
General Manager Temel Kotil added: “I am more optimistic on our 2023 goal of becoming the world’s largest airline network. We intend to become a 5-star airline and the leading carrier in our region, home to 1.5 billion people.”
Turkish Airlines recently announced extra flights on its Dublin to Istanbul route for 2013, increasing from seven weekly flights to 10, as well as new routes for next year.
Murat Balandi, Managing Director, Turkish Airlines Ireland said: “As Turkish Airlines grows, Ireland will continue to benefit. Increased flights from Dublin to Istanbul have already been announced for 2013, as well as additional routes to Kilimanjaro and Mombasa, which will operate five times weekly from Dublin via Istanbul. These mean more choices for our Irish customers.”
