Over 750 participants took part in the first Kinsale Pink Ribbon Walk on Sunday 4th March, raising €80,000 for Action Breast Cancer, a programme of the Irish Cancer Society.
Following a major sponsorship and promotional drive, Kinsale had turned ‘pink’ for the weekend with a sea of bright pink flags flying throughout the town and over 100 local businesses had decorated their windows for the occasion.
Trish O’Leary from Amadeus was one of the participants and was proudly sponsored by Amadeus. Trish expressed her gratitude to Amadeus for sponsoring such a great cause.
CSR Action
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Amadeus Ireland was also delighted to donate some computers to Festina Lente in Bray, Co Wicklow, and St John’s National School in Ballybrack, Co Dublin.
Festina Lente is a Registered Charity that provides a wide range of equestrian related services to people who may experience social and/or economic exclusion. The services include vocational training, employment, therapeutic riding, equine assisted learning and supported placements.
Festina Lente has recently received a special grant for new software and will be able to put the computers into immediate use.
St John’s National School is based in Ballybrack and serves the local area. Having recently experienced funding cuts, they were delighted to receive the computers and following the Amadeus donation will now be able to have a computer in every classroom.
