The resplendent Killeen Castle Golf Club, Dunsany, Co Meath, was the venue for Tanya Airey’s Captain’s Day TIGS prize, generously sponsored by Travelport. The Jack Nicklaus championship course was in top condition, with some players taking more than five and a half hours to play the 18 holes.
The course was to say the least challenging but Nicklus did describe it as “one of my proudest designs”.
The day belonged to Gillian Lowry who came first in the Ladies competition with a score of 35 points, she also was the winner of the Marie Louise Tallon trophy as the the Lady Golfer of the year, she also won the longest drive of the day.
On the mens side Martin Dempsey won the men’s Golfer of the year, and the Paddy O’Keefe Trophy
Gordon Penney was the winner of the Mens competition with a score of 38 points.
David Conlon who hosted the outing on behalf of Travelport announced that Travelport would be a sponsor again next year.He also made a special presentation on behalf of Travelport to Tanya Airey from Sunway to mark their fifty years in business.
