A new e-learning system was unveiled for 70 Irish Travel Counsellors at the company’s mini-conference at Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa, Co Meath, on 14th June.
The company’s latest training resource, TC Coach, is an international system based on the Travel Counsellors’ unique relational model of selling and focuses on both the mindset and skill set needed to build a business based on retention and referrals. It covers content across a range of fields including personal development, technology, products, sales and marketing.
Travel Counsellors were also updated on the new phase of the ‘my TC’ app 2.1, to be revealed in the coming months. The updates to ‘my TC’, which provides personalised information about a customer’s bookings, will soon allow for access to real time flight information and accommodation reviews.
Cathy Burke, General Manager, Travel Counsellors Ireland, said: “Mini-conferences are a chance for Travel Counsellors to come together and engage in extra learning, developments and updates on what’s down the line. Over the past 12 months, Travel Counsellors has invested approximately €4.8 million in global technology, used to enhance the personal and exceptional service that our Travel Counsellors provide to all their customers.”
Key speaker at the mini-conference was Jim Eastwood, who was appointed Global Sales Director at Travel Counsellors earlier this year. Jim joined from Groupon, where he held several senior leadership roles, including Vice-President of Sales for the UK and Ireland. He also finished as runner-up on the seventh series of BBC reality show The Apprentice in 2011, with Alan Sugar referring to him as “the world’s greatest salesman”.
Jim moderated a panel discussion with four Travel Counsellors, which saw Clare-based Travel Counsellor Sherry Meagle speak on the personal aspect of the company, while Cork-based Mary Foyle spoke on technology, Meath-based Sharon Tiernan-Murphy on training, and Louth-based Brenda Murray-Flynn on her experience in the new accelerator programme.
The mini-conference was sponsored by Emirates, G Adventures and MSC Cruises, with the evening meal and fun quiz sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
