Travel Counsellors is celebrating after being named in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200. The company was placed 56th in the list, which ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.
Cathy Burke, General Manager Ireland, said: “I am very proud of the contribution that Travel Counsellors Ireland has made to this accolade. Ireland was the first country that the company expanded to in 2005 and we have not looked back since while our business goes from strength to strength in this country – despite the recession.”
The company now has over 400 Travel Counsellors in its overseas operations in Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Canada and, most recently, the UAE, along with 700 Travel Counsellors in the UK, running their own businesses from home. Travel Counsellors experienced a growth of 95% since its first overseas launch seven years ago, with sales in 2011 of €438 million, of which 30% is now generated outside of the UK.
Managing Director Steve Byrne added: “Despite our international expansion, at our heart we are still a family business and we believe it is this family ethos that has been a major contributor to our success and has driven the care and attention we offer to our Travel Counsellors and their customers.
“We have developed the technology to enable our agents to interact and share advice and knowledge with one another across the globe, and we will continue to move forward and develop the very best tools, training and technology to enable our leisure and corporate Travel Counsellors to stay ahead of the competition and be the very best they can be.”
