The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has updated on events following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that rocked Myanmar/Burma this morning, also affecting Thailand’s capital Bangkok.

According to Worapa Angkhisirisap, Director of TAT UK & Ireland, all airports in Bangkok remain operational, with no disruptions to flight operations being reported at this time.

She said the AOT (Airports of Thailand) has completed inspections of six airports in the country, confirming the structural integrity and safety of the infrastructure.

Ms Angkhisirisap also said travellers are advised to monitor updates from each operator for local travel advice.

However, it is a different story for rail travel in the city. Rail services between Bangkok’s Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station and Rangsit could face delays to timetables due to structural inspections, with safety checks ongoing.

Bangkok’s MRT Blue and Purple lines are temporarily suspended, while the BTS Skytrain is also temporarily suspended due to emergency protocols.
