Thailand Postpones Tourist Tax Due to Lower Visitor Demand

Thailand has postponed the launch of its planned tourist tax for overseas visitors until well into next year.

Ironically, the country’s government has introduced the postponement due to wavering visitor demand, with visitor numbers down around 5% year-on-year so far in 2025.

The government said: “We are delaying implementation until tourism demand rebounds.”

It is now expected to be introduced in the middle of 2026.
