CLMVT – Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand – featured at the TTM+ 2017 in the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre during this year’s TTM+ and gave attendees the opportunity to learn about the tourism assets and their contribution to growth in CLMVT countries.
Long seen as the last frontier for tourism in Asia, the CLMVT region has seen a significant rise in tourism over the past decade. There were less than 27 million international visitors to CLMVT in 2010, but last year this number had grown to 56.52 million, showing growth of 92.7% over that period.
Thailand has the largest share in total international arrivals at almost 60%, followed by Vietnam with a market share of 18.3%.
The CLMVT region has 18 cultural and natural sites listed in the UNESCO World Heritage list. An additional 39 new sites are expected to be added over time.
