TAP Air Portugal and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announce a strategic partnership that strengthens two of the most powerful symbols of Portuguese identity: the National Team and the national flag carrier. Under this agreement, TAP becomes the Official Airline of the National Team.
This partnership is based on a shared vision of Portugal’s international projection, bringing together football, tourism and air mobility as drivers of the country’s global presence. TAP will accompany the National Team on its international journeys, ensuring conditions of excellence that reflect the highest standards of quality, safety and comfort.
The agreement comes at a particularly significant strategic moment, within an international cycle marked by preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and with a broader outlook towards the FIFA World Cup 2030, which Portugal will co-host with Spain and Morocco.
Within this context, the partnership between the FPF and TAP plays a central role in promoting Portugal beyond its borders. This newly formalised association strengthens the FPF’s internationalisation strategy and consolidates TAP’s position as an active partner in promoting sport, tourism and the image of a modern and globally competitive Portugal.
Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, stated: “For TAP, carrying the National Team on our wings is a source of pride and an opportunity to reinforce Portugal’s global profile. This partnership reflects not only our commitment to excellence and to promoting the country beyond its borders, but also the winning spirit with which we face every challenge.”
Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, highlighted the importance of the agreement: “This partnership with TAP is a source of great pride for the Portuguese Football Federation. It represents the union of two brands that are ambassadors for Portugal around the world and that share a long-term strategic vision. In a competitive cycle culminating in the 2026 World Cup, this connection strengthens the National Team’s ability to go further, both on and off the pitch, while simultaneously promoting Portugal as a country of talent, excellence and ambition.”
