TAP Air Portugal has officially added the Brazilian city of Florianópolis to its list of South American destinations from Europe.
The airline – which links many Irish passengers to South America via Lisbon – has formally begun its new Lisbon-Florianóplois route, which will now operate three times per week from the Portuguese capital.
Florianóplis is the capital of the Santa Catarina state in southern Brazil.
Luís Rodrigues, President of TAP, said: “We are convinced that this flight will be very well received by Brazilian and European clients. Proof of this is the demand that has been registered since the first day we opened sales for this route.
“The addition of Florianópolis as a TAP destination comes as a response to the growing demand for flights between Portugal and the south of Brazil, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to be the European airline of choice for Brazilians.”
TAP operates flights to Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina, using the Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which carries 269 passengers, 244 in Economy class and 25 in Business. The flight lasts around 12 hours.
